John founded Intelligent Futures to create lasting sustainability solutions that have strategic value within his client’s culture. He specializes in the development of community sustainability plans and creating structures and processes for ongoing implementation by clients, and is responsible for client development, creation and execution of workplans clients and day-to-day operations for the company. John has had the unique opportunity to merge his passion for environment, urban planning and sustainability. He has been involved in imagineCALGARY – Calgary’s long range urban sustainability plan and winner of awards from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association. This experience has complemented his previous urban planning work and has allowed him to better understand and communicate issues of urban sustainability.

John has a BA (honours) in Environmental Studies from York University and an MA in Environmental Design (planning) from the University of Calgary. He is also co-designer and lecturer of courses on urban planning and sustainability at both Simon Fraser University and University of Calgary.
