LEAD Canada is committed to acting in a sustainable way in delivering its mission of inspiring leadership and change for a sustainable world. LEAD Canada wishes to encourage sustainable ways of carrying out its functions and to discourage practices that are wasteful or damaging from a sustainability point of view. Accordingly, it is the policy of LEAD Canada Inc. to:
- promote awareness and understanding of sustainability issues among its staff, partners and wider network;
- Ensure that this policy, and any reports and reviews of LEAD Canada’s sustainability performance, are communicated to staff and published on its website;
- Review and update this policy where appropriate;
- Comply with all relevant environmental legislation and consider relevant codes of best practice In implementing this policy, LEAD Canada will address specifically but not exclusively the travel area.
LEAD Canada recognizes that climate change is a major threat to sustainable development and that greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions resulting from air travel by staff, board members, Associates or Fellows in the course of LEAD-related activities, are one of our material adverse climate change impacts. Some air travel is essential for LEAD to carry out its activities and, will seek to reduce it and use alternatives where feasible. LEAD Canada feels it is important to focus on reducing emissions before considering offset options, and will monitor and use an offset provider to offset the impact of its travel-related GHG emissions.
