Carole THERRIEN is the Chief of Operations and Strategic Planning, Regional Communications, for the External Relations Branch of the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS), a central agency of the Government of Canada that provides management guidance to federal departments. Responsible for the functional management and direction of ten-regionally based communications offices which serve as boutique communications units for federal departments and agencies, her work focuses principally on workload management and performance evaluation.
Carole has served the federal government in both communications and transition management capacities; previous assignments were with the Privy Council Office, Communication Canada, and Canadian Heritage. Prior to joining the public service, Carole Therrien worked in a number of political capacities with Members of Parliament, political parties and the Prime Minister's Office. She has also served as an international election observer, and participated in Prime Minister's Delegations at international events.
Having studied economics and public administration, Carole recently resumed university studies to pursue a degree in English Language and Literature at Memorial University in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. Her professional training focuses on the dynamics of leadership, coaching and transition management. Carole relaxes with pursuits such as ultimate Frisbee, sailing, and all things gastronomic.
