At the core of LEAD's international network is its training and capacity-building program. Known as 'The Fellows Program', applicants who are accepted will attend two one-week sessions in Canada and one one-week session at an international location selected by LEAD International. Through this program, participants will deepen their understanding of global/local sustainability challenges and develop skills needed to deal with the challenges of global and local sustainability.
Funding to develop and deliver LEAD Canada's professional development programs, from 2007 through 2009, has been generously provided by both HSBC Bank and LEAD International.
In Fall of 2007, LEAD Canada re-launched its 'cohort training' program, in line with that of LEAD International. Since then, over 30 mid-career professionals, from a range of professional background and who share a belief in the need to foster sustainability at all levels of society, began their LEAD training.
For those who were accepted into the 2009 program (Cohort 15), the two domestic, 5-day, residential training sessions will be held in Montreal (Aug 2 to 7, 2009) and Winnipeg (April 2010), as well as a 5-day residential program that is organized by LEAD International (November 2010) in South Africa.
Summary Reports of LEAD Canada's use of funds provided by LEAD International's Strategic Opportunities Investment Fund (SOIF) can be accessed here:
